The Summer Palace (Peterhof) is a magnificent architectural complex with 7 parks, 20 castles and foyers, and 140 special fountains. This palace is located about 20km from Saint Petersburg (the second largest city in Russia - after the capital Moscow).

A notable highlight in the Summer Palace complex is the large waterfall built right in front of the palace. This waterfall was designed by the famous architect Bartolomeo Ras-trelli.

What is special is that the palace's fountain system does not use any pumps or consume electricity, but water is automatically drawn from streams more than 20 km away from the palace. This is the largest fountain project in the world.
