Ms. Mai Duc "talks and does"

Promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, Ms. Duc launched the movement "Following Uncle Ho" on practicing thrift among members. She and the association's officials built many models such as: "Saving rice jar", "Raising economical plastic pigs", "Women's saving groups", "Eliminating poverty with waste"...

Thanks to the implementation of the models, many members and women, despite their difficulties, have saved money, shared, and supported women and children in especially difficult circumstances to improve their lives. Thanks to that, the rate of poor member households in the ward has decreased steadily over the years.

With over 1,200 members, propagating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, local regulations and the association's activities has encountered some difficulties. However, thanks to the promotion of digital transformation, this propaganda has become much simpler. Up to now, the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, branches and associations of the An Luu Ward Women's Union have all established Zalo groups to propagate and guide members to pay by e-wallet, submit "one-stop" online applications, guide and help women members and people install and register for the VNeID electronic identification and authentication application...

Ms. Duc determined that if she wanted the staff and members to trust her, she herself must always be a role model in all activities. Therefore, despite her age, she still actively studies, improves her knowledge, and applies information technology. Many members of the association participate in trading, production, and business, so Ms. Duc and members of the Executive Committee of the association coordinated to organize training courses on using Facebook and Zalo to promote, advertise, and introduce products to members. Thereby, helping to improve production and business efficiency.

Ms. Duc is also one of the association's officials who participates in many activities to support poor members, women and children in difficult circumstances. Every year, she and other members of the association's Executive Committee actively mobilize philanthropists to give gifts and support poor members. In 2023, Ms. Duc mobilized a tailor to give 14 poor members each a set of Ao Dai; coordinated with EL Group Education Corporation to give 50 scholarships to children of members, women and people in the ward; supported a poor member to borrow 25 million VND without interest to develop the economy.
Implementing the “godmother” program, Ms. Duc has connected with benefactors to sponsor 10 children. “In addition to monthly support, we regularly coordinate with sponsoring units to visit and give gifts to the children. We also regularly visit each family with orphans to remind them to study, guide them to take care of themselves… “, Ms. Duc said.

Since September 2023, Ms. Duc has been elected by the officials and people of Cong Hoa residential area as the head of the residential area.

Ms. Duc shared: “As the first female ward chief, I also encountered some difficulties in my work. However, I always remember Uncle Ho's teaching that the masses only respect people with moral character. To guide the people, I must set an example for them to follow. Therefore, I have tried to overcome difficulties and complete the assigned tasks to the best of my ability.”

In 2024, the People's Committee of Kinh Mon town selected two breakthrough tasks: focusing on clearing the ground for key projects in the town and urban beautification, restoring order in traffic safety corridors, ensuring the criteria for a type III urban area. To carry out the above breakthrough work, Ms. Duc and the Front Committee and branch officials went to each family to mobilize strict compliance with ensuring traffic safety corridors, dismantling awnings, and installing advertising signs in accordance with regulations.

At first, the organization of the campaign was difficult, the households thought that the target was too big, the people's strength was limited. However, thanks to the perseverance and efforts of herself and the members of the Front Committee, the organizations and the people gradually strictly complied with ensuring traffic safety corridors. Some households voluntarily removed their awnings and roofs, no longer encroached on the sidewalks for selling goods, strictly implementing urban civilization.

She also mobilized people in the area to contribute money to buy over 200 bougainvillea pots to place on the streets of the area. She and other women's association members took care of 160 bougainvillea pots on Tran Hung Dao and Nguyen Dai Nang streets; took care of 12 self-managed road sections with a length of over 4 km; and guided the branches to participate in cleaning the environment on the 22nd of every month.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee of An Luu Ward, affirmed that Ms. Duc is always energetic and responsible for all assigned tasks, and is trusted and loved by cadres, women's union members and people.

With the results achieved in her work, Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Duc has been awarded many certificates of merit by the Women's Union at all levels and local authorities.
