Chi Linh maintains 31 longan growing area codes

Chi Linh City currently has 31 longan growing areas that have been granted growing area codes, an increase of 27 areas compared to 2020.

Chi Linh City has just coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to train on the process of granting, managing and maintaining growing area codes for fruit-bearing longan areas, and the process of harvesting, processing and packaging longan for export.

Over 200 people participating in the training were representatives of agricultural service cooperatives, agricultural extension officers, and households growing longan for export concentrated in the communes and wards of Ben Tam, Hoang Tan, Le Loi, Bac An, Hoang Hoa Tham, etc. Participants were informed about general regulations on plant quarantine and food safety control of countries importing fresh longan; instructions on how to keep a cultivation diary; and safe and effective use of fertilizers and pesticides.

In Chi Linh City, there are currently 747 hectares of longan with an estimated output of over 15,000 tons. Of the 39 monitored fruit growing areas, 31 have been granted codes that are eligible for export to markets such as China, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, and Japan, with an area of ​​over 271 hectares. This number is an increase of 27 areas compared to 2020, the first year Chi Linh longan was granted a growing area code for export.
