A wolfdog-Caucasian shepherd hybrid has just been sold for nearly $6 million, making it the most expensive in the world.
Cadabomb Okami, a hybrid of a wolfdog and a Caucasian shepherd, was born in the United States. At just 8 months old, he weighed 75 kg and stood 76 cm tall.
Okami was sold to Mr. S Sathish, 51, a famous dog collector in Bengaluru, Karnataka state, India for 50 million rupees (5.7 million USD).
Okami's appearance in India has created a wave of excitement, immediately attracting attention every time he appears. A video recording Okami on the red carpet at the movie premiere with owner Sathish has received 3 million views.
Mr. Sathish owns over 150 different breeds of dogs. He started breeding dogs in 1990 and founded a company that breeds, imports dogs and organizes dog shows. The company claims to have successfully bred over 100 champion dogs in competitions in India and the world.
Sathish has now stopped breeding and started making money by showing his dogs to crowds. He can earn anywhere from $2,800 for 30 minutes to $11,700 for five hours of performance.
To protect his precious dogs, Sathish built a 3-meter-high wall around his nearly 3-hectare farm with a 24/7 surveillance camera system. "They have enough space to move around and run around. There are 6 people taking good care of them," Sathish said.
