Four people suffered burns, one person was injured in a fall and 18 people suffered smoke inhalation after a fire broke out on two Ferris wheel cars at the Highfield music festival in Germany on the evening of August 17 (local time).
On the morning of August 18 (Vietnam time), a Ferris wheel at a Highfield music festival near Leipzig, Germany caught fire, injuring more than 20 people.
German police said the fire broke out at around 9:00 p.m. on August 17 (local time, or 2:00 a.m. on August 18, Vietnam time) on two Ferris wheel cars and was quickly brought under control.
Four people suffered burns, one person was injured in a fall and 18 people suffered from smoke inhalation.
Several members of the police and fire brigade were also injured. The injured were rushed to hospital.
Photos released by German media showed flames raging on the Ferris wheel's operating cars, with thick black smoke billowing into the air.
The Highfield Festival, considered the largest independent rock festival, attracts thousands of visitors to the shores of the man-made Stormthaler Lake, near Leipzig, every summer.
