In recent times, the work of caring for the elderly in Hai Duong has received special attention from all levels and sectors, especially the work of managing, consulting, and implementing policies for the elderly by the sector of labor, war invalids and social affairs.

In early October, the People's Committee of Hai Duong province coordinated with the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly to successfully organize the launching ceremony of the Action Month for the Elderly in 2024. This is the first time Hai Duong province has organized a large-scale event nationwide for the elderly. Therefore, the preparation work is very important. Early on, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs advised the Provincial People's Committee on a plan to organize a thoughtful and timely launching ceremony. The successful ceremony left an impression on the elderly in Hai Duong in particular and the whole country in general, demonstrating the care and concern of the entire political system and society for the elderly.

As one of the 12 100-year-olds who received gifts at the launching ceremony, Ms. Hoang Thi Thuan from An Phu ward (Kinh Mon) accompanied by her family said that she was very happy to attend the launching ceremony and receive gifts. She had never attended such a big and meaningful event in her life. She was very grateful to the agencies and organizations that created conditions for her to be "close to the earth, far from the sky" but still have many joys in life.

Not only advising the Provincial People's Committee to carefully organize the launching ceremony of the Month of Action for the Elderly, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs also advised the province and requested localities to promptly give gifts during the Month of Action for the Elderly in Vietnam. Provincial leaders organized delegations to visit typical centenarians in Ninh Giang and Thanh Ha districts. Local leaders also organized delegations to visit and give gifts to typical elderly people in the area. The activities of caring for the elderly spread to each facility, demonstrating the concern of the whole society for the "tall trees with big shadows".

Mr. Nguyen Van Tinh, an officer in charge of the labor, war invalids and social affairs sector of Thanh Xa commune (Thanh Ha) said that in recent times, following the direction of superiors and the labor, war invalids and social affairs sector, the locality has always ensured timely payment of benefits to the elderly according to regulations. On holidays, Tet, and the Month of Action for the Elderly, the locality has allocated funds and mobilized social resources to give gifts to the elderly. It has also organized well longevity and cultural activities to take care of the elderly's spirit.
