Three people injured when a tree branch fell on them at Tao Dan Park (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) were taken to the People's Hospital 115 and Saigon General Hospital for emergency treatment. One victim suffered a collapsed skull and had to undergo emergency surgery.
On the morning of August 9, Dr. Tran Duy Long, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City 115 Emergency Center, confirmed that after receiving information about the tree falling accident at Tao Dan Park, the unit immediately sent emergency forces to the scene.
“When the medical team arrived, the police had cordoned off the area. We recorded two deaths at the scene and three others injured. After initial first aid, we transferred the victims to Saigon General Hospital and People’s Hospital 115 for further treatment,” said Dr. Long.
A representative of People's Hospital 115 said that the unit received the victim, including Ms. LNS (born in 1962) with a depressed skull injury. The patient was diagnosed with a right epidural hematoma and underwent emergency surgery by doctors from the Department of Neurosurgery this morning.
The second victim, QKX (female, born in 1955), suffered a fractured C1 cervical vertebra and numbness and weakness in all four limbs. She is currently conscious and is being monitored and treated at the Department of Neurosurgery.
Doctor Mai Duc Huy, Director of Saigon General Hospital, said that the unit received a female victim (born in 1957) in a conscious state with soft tissue injuries in her back.
After performing paraclinical measures, doctors have not discovered any other injuries. The victim is being monitored and treated by doctors.
At around 7am this morning, an old tree branch with a diameter of about 20cm fell from a height of about 15m, hitting many people below at Tao Dan Park (near the park gate on Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street, District 1).
At the time of the incident there was no rain or strong winds in the area.
