With the special feature of National Highway 5 and the Hanoi - Hai Phong railway running through, the traffic volume on National Highway 5 is very large, so the traffic accident situation in Kim Thanh district has many complicated developments, causing extremely unfortunate consequences. In many cases, the victims are students. Recently, Kim Thanh District Police have increased patrols, controls, and strictly handled cases of students violating traffic laws, combined with propaganda and dissemination of traffic laws to raise students' awareness of compliance. Officers of the Traffic Police and Order Team of Kim Thanh District Police have coordinated propaganda and organized commitment signing at 60 schools in the district. From the beginning of the year to May 10, the traffic police force of the District Police has handled 79 cases of students violating traffic order and safety, fining more than 40 million VND with the main violations being not wearing helmets and driving motorbikes over 50cc when underage.
Lieutenant Colonel Bui Tien Hai, Head of the Traffic Police and Order Team, Kim Thanh District Police, said that in cases where students violate traffic laws, the traffic police force will invite parents to work, impose penalties for the violation of giving vehicles to underage drivers, and send a notice to the school. “When students violate, the greatest responsibility still belongs to the parents. Each parent needs to set an example and regularly remind their children to strictly comply with the provisions of the Road Traffic Law,” Lieutenant Colonel Bui Tien Hai emphasized.
Increase accountability
On April 26, Ms. Vu Thi Th., born in 1985, in Tuan Viet commune (Kim Thanh) was also fined for giving her motorbike to someone who did not meet the required conditions. Knowing that her child was not old enough to ride a motorbike over 50 cm3, Ms. Th. still let her child ride the motorbike because she loved and pampered her child.
The traffic police’s tough handling of violations related to student age has received support from students, teachers and their families. Many parents no longer arbitrarily hand over motorbikes to their underage children.
Handling students who violate traffic safety is not an overnight task but will be carried out regularly with a spirit of strict handling to form the habit of obeying traffic laws for students.
