Golden Kite: Mrs. Nu's House wins best screenplay, Glorious Ashes wins best film

The 2023 Golden Kite Awards ceremony took place on the evening of September 9 in the coastal city of Nha Trang, at the Do Theater, Vegas City Nha Trang. The awards are for two categories: television and cinema. This year, only individual awards were given due to time constraints.

Movie“Glorious Ashes”won 4 awards, including the Golden Kite for the film. In addition, there were awards for director Bui Thac Chuyen, cinematographer K'Linh, and supporting actress Hanh Thuy.

“It's great to have a good life, thank you to the organizers and judges for liking the film. Thank you to my colleagues who made the film with great love during the difficult period [COVID-19], and to the film sponsors who dared to sponsor a film like this.'Ashes of Glory.'I also thank the audience who loved the film, it was a great encouragement," director Bui Thac Chuyen shared on stage.

In 2022, the film won the top prize at the Festival des 3 Continents in Nantes, France; and was in the top 15 at the Tokyo International Film Festival.

Based on the original work of writer Nguyen Ngoc Tu -"Rotten wood drifts back"and“Ashes of Glory,”The film is about Western women with many confidences, a desire to be loved and to be cared for by their men, or as the dialogue in the film says, "to see."

Experts highly appreciated the film in terms of art. However, in terms of commerce, the film was not very successful when it was released in theaters, earning only over 4.1 billion VND. Audience reviews also varied from praise to difficult to watch comments...

"Mrs. Nu's House"won the award for screenwriter for Tran Thanh and Ngoc Bich. In the film, the actor participated in the production, played the supporting role and participated in writing the script. Tran Thanh's wife, actress Hari Won, received the award on his behalf.

Like his previous work (The Godfather),"Mrs. Nu's House"revolves around generational conflicts in the family and specifically the mother-daughter relationship. The film conveys lessons about sympathy, love and understanding each other.

Despite many controversies about the film's quality, from the aspects of script, acting as well as performance style, the film still reached over 400 billion VND domestically and about 1 million USD in the international market.

Currently, Tran Thanh is a filmmaker and actor who owns two highest-grossing movies in Vietnam, including"Mrs. Nu's House"and"Godfather"(395 billion VND).

"The girl picks up her husband," "Mrs. Nu's House"won the Silver Kite Award. Movie"Me and Trinh"and"Ten"received a certificate of merit from the Vietnam Cinema Association.

The TV series won the Golden Kite.“Straw mother.”The film also won another award for actor Thai Hoa. Best actress went to Quynh Kool in“Don't make me angry.”
