On the morning of March 11, in Hanoi, the Central Organizing Committee coordinated with the Vietnam Women's Union to organize a seminar on building and developing a team of female cadres to meet the requirements of tasks in the new period.

Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Permanent member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Commission Truong Thi Mai chaired the discussion.

In recent years, with a fairly comprehensive legal framework that meets international requirements, along with efforts to improve, women have been participating more and more in many areas of social life, including politics.

However, through discussion, delegates said that compared to the targets set out in Resolution No. 11 and some documents of the Party, the proportion of female cadres in our country is still far from the set targets, in some cases there are still establishments that do not have female Party Committee members; the proportion of female People's Council delegates in some places has not reached 20%....

According to the delegates, in the planning, party committees at all levels, leaders of agencies, organizations and units need to ensure the structure of female cadres according to the prescribed female ratio; pay attention to training, fostering and creating a source of female leaders who meet the conditions, standards, qualifications and capacity to be included in the planning; Training, fostering, helping and supporting, focusing on young female cadres; expanding the discovery of sources outside the political system such as: production and business sectors, social activities sectors.

Mr. Do Ngoc An, Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission, said that the excellent cadres in the political system need to be sent to other areas to do better. He proposed expanding the discovery of female cadres outside the political system.

To have a connection in planning to better utilize the staff according to Resolution 11, the planned proportion of female staff must be double the expected proportion of staff in the Party Committee, for example, if the expected proportion of female staff in the Party Committee is 15%, the planned proportion of female staff must reach 30%.

Speaking at the seminar, Standing member of the Secretariat and Head of the Central Organization Committee Truong Thi Mai provided more information on documents and policies of the Party and State on the orientation of building and developing a contingent of female cadres to meet the requirements of tasks in the new period, and emphasized 5 issues that need attention in the coming time to increase the proportion of women in the political system.

In particular, raising awareness and responsibility of Party committees, Party organizations, leaders and the political system for effectively implementing the Party's Resolution and policies on building a contingent of female cadres, especially leaders and managers, and gender equality goals and programs; having solutions to overcome difficulties, challenges and limitations in policies and laws; sustainability of achieved results; creating equal opportunities for women; shortening the retirement age gap between male and female cadres...

"Encourage female cadres to strive and improve their qualifications, capacity, qualities and prestige to meet the requirements of the new period. Pay attention to development, source creation and training to have more women in the political apparatus. Increase the active participation of male cadres in implementing the Resolutions and policies of the Party and State towards female cadres," said Ms. Truong Thi Mai.
