Three colors of car inspection stamps applied from 2025

According to Circular 47/2024 of the Ministry of Transport, the inspection and assessment of the technical safety and environmental protection status of motor vehicles is carried out according to the Regulations on motor vehicle inspection and according to 5 inspection stages including: Identification and general; upper part of the vehicle; braking efficiency; environment and finally inspection of the lower part of the vehicle.

If the car passes all five stages, the inspection facility will issue an inspection certificate and an inspection sticker with an inspection cycle according to the vehicle type and production time. There are three types of inspection papers and stickers.

Including inspection certificate, green inspection stamp used for motor vehicles using clean energy, green energy, environmentally friendly.

Inspection certificate, orange inspection stamp used for other motor vehicles.

Inspection certificate, purple-pink inspection stamp for specialized motorbikes.

The inspection sticker is affixed to the vehicle as follows: For vehicles with a control compartment and equipped with a front windshield, the sticker is affixed to the upper right corner or on the inside of the front windshield. The front of the sticker faces outwards.

For trailers, semi-trailers and specialized motorbikes, it is necessary to equip a protective layer for the inspection sticker during use. The front must be protected with transparent material to observe the content, and affixed to the vehicle in easily observable locations.

The inspection sticker is affixed by the inspection facility's staff in case the vehicle is inspected at the inspection facility. The vehicle owner affixes it himself when the vehicle is subject to: first inspection exemption or is inspected outside the inspection facility or is reissued.

According to current regulations, inspection facilities issue inspection certificates and yellow inspection stamps for commercial transport vehicles and blue for non-commercial transport vehicles. From January 1, 2025, when Circular 47 takes effect, commercial transport and non-commercial transport vehicles (if not clean energy vehicles or specialized motorbikes) will all be issued orange-yellow inspection stamps.

The Law on Road Traffic Safety, effective from January 1, 2025, stipulates the distinction of transport business vehicles through the color of their license plates. Specifically, yellow-based license plates are issued to transport business vehicles. Therefore, transport business vehicles do not need a separate inspection stamp color as they do now.
