According to the National Tourism Administration, the ASEAN Clean Tourist City award ceremony took place in the capital Vientiane, Laos, on the afternoon of January 26.
The three cities representing Vietnam that were awarded the prize are Hue (Thua Thien Hue province), Vung Tau (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province), and Quy Nhon (Binh Dinh province).
The award is part of the ATF Southeast Asia Tourism Forum taking place from January 22 to 27.
This is not the first time the three destinations have been awarded the ASEAN Clean Tourist City award. Quy Nhon was named in 2020, while Vung Tau and Hue have won the award three times before.

Asean Clean Tourist City is an annual award, contributing to honoring and developing high-quality tourism brands in the region.
At the same time, this is also an opportunity for units to promote and improve the effectiveness of promoting Vietnam tourism and the national destination brand Vietnam Timeless Charm, according to the Department of Tourism.
Destinations in the region who want to compete will submit their applications. Experts will score based on 108 award criteria and divide them into 7 main categories: environmental management, cleanliness, waste management, environmental awareness, green space, urban security and safety, health, and infrastructure, tourism facilities.
