50 years ago, on September 12, 1973, when the Quang Tri battlefield was still filled with the smell of gunpowder, from the other side of the hemisphere, Cuban leader Fidel Castro visited the newly liberated land of Quang Tri province.

50 years ago, on September 12, 1973, when the Quang Tri battlefield was still filled with the smell of gunpowder, from the other side of the hemisphere, Cuban leader Fidel Castro visited the newly liberated land of Quang Tri province.

At that time, he was the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and Prime Minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Government.

Leader Fidel Castro was the first and only foreign leader to visit the liberated zone of the South just a few months after the Paris Agreement on ending the war and restoring peace in Vietnam was signed (January 1973).

The event of Leader Fidel Castro's visit to the liberated zone of South Vietnam was a special historical milestone in the relationship between Vietnam and Cuba, and at the same time a symbol of the international movement of solidarity and support for the national liberation struggle of the Vietnamese people.
