In response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, the Truth National Political Publishing House introduces two books "A Thousand Years of Vietnamese National Culture" and "The Hung King Worship Belief in Vietnam."
On April 19, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Truth National Political Publishing House coordinated with the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City to introduce two books, "A Thousand Years of Vietnamese National Culture" and "The Hung King Worship Belief in Vietnam."
This is a practical activity in response to the third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, commemorating the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2024) and the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024).
The book "A Thousand Years of Vietnamese National Culture" was compiled and published by the Truth National Political Publishing House in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Vietnamese and English.
The project was carried out with the desire to bring readers the opportunity to "enjoy" treasures across our country, thereby gaining a systematic, thorough, and profound understanding of the country's 265 treasures; contributing to honoring and spreading the extremely precious values of thousands of years of civilization.
The 265 national treasures presented in the book are artifacts that have been handed down, have special and rare values, and are typical of the country in terms of history, culture, and science. They are currently kept in provinces and cities across the country and are preserved and protected under a special regime, with specific methods depending on the material characteristics and age of each treasure.
The book takes readers on a journey through the chronology of national treasures, starting from the period before Christ to the revolutionary war period, marked by the great turning point of the General Offensive and Uprising in the spring of 1975, completely liberating the South and reunifying the country.
National treasures are introduced concisely, with an overview of their origin, era, characteristics and unique, typical values.
Accompanying that concise information are sharp images of each treasure.
Published in both Vietnamese and English, the book hopes to spread and help readers at home and abroad better understand the historical and cultural values of Vietnam that have been built up over thousands of years.
The book "Hung King Worship in Vietnam" co-edited by Professor, Doctor Ta Ngoc Tan and Associate Professor, Doctor Vu Trong Lam, is a research document that helps readers understand more deeply the historical origin, meaning, and cultural values of Hung King Worship from many perspectives, as well as the exploitation and promotion of the values of this type of belief at home and abroad today.
Throughout the flow of national history, the worship of Hung Kings has increasingly held an important position in the spiritual life of the Vietnamese people.
Because of these values, on December 6, 2012, UNESCO recognized the Hung King worship in Phu Tho, Vietnam as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
