On the afternoon of September 25, Deputy Director of the Binh Duong Provincial Department of Health Huynh Minh Chin said that a case of monkeypox positive appeared in the province due to close contact with a previously identified monkeypox patient.
According to initial information, the patient is NKL (born in 2001) living at Ms. N's boarding house, Cong Xanh quarter, Tan Binh town, Bac Tan Uyen district, Binh Duong province. The patient has been treated for pulmonary tuberculosis for 3 months and is currently unemployed.
After receiving information that Ms. L had been in contact with a previous LVT patient with monkeypox on September 13, the Binh Duong Health Department conducted an epidemiological investigation. As of September 23, Ms. L was staying at a motel with her mother and younger sister and had not had contact with anyone else. Ms. L is currently being quarantined at the Internal Medicine Department, Tan Uyen City Medical Center for monitoring.
The sample sent to the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City for molecular biology testing was positive for monkeypox virus.
Pursuant to Official Dispatch No. 2974/PAS-KSBT dated September 23, 2022 of the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City on reporting a case with a positive test result for monkeypox, the Department of Health of Binh Duong province requests to continue epidemiological investigation of cases that have been in contact with the above patient to take measures to isolate and prevent spreading to the community.
On the afternoon of September 25, the Department of Health of Binh Duong province issued an urgent dispatch requesting districts and towns in the province to strengthen propaganda work, promote communication in many forms to people and the community about measures to prevent monkeypox epidemic according to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health.
The Department of Health assigned the Center for Disease Control to preside over and guide the implementation of monkeypox prevention and control in the area according to regulations. Localities urgently and thoroughly investigate all cases of contact with monkeypox positive cases to determine the source of infection; promptly manage and handle the outbreak, preventing the disease from spreading widely in the community.
The Department of Health requires the organization of isolation and treatment of positive cases to avoid deaths, pay attention to avoid cross-infection and infection of medical staff during care and treatment; organize monitoring and reporting of cases according to regulations.
