Summer buzz

(Excerpt)

Summer in the jackfruit
Turn into golden honey
Summer sun is red
Watermelon herding by the river.

Summer climbing the royal poinciana tree
Hang red flower lanterns for you
Summer flies over the fields
Each rice flower smells of morning glory.

Summer still often wake up early
Singing with the birds
Summer hide and seek
The sound of cicadas calling me.

Summer sitting with the kids
String the kite up
Summer flies so easy
With the same bustling flute sound…

NGUYEN HUU QUY

Summer in the eyes of children is always innocent and playful. Poet Nguyen Huu Quy felt that through the eyes of children, so everything appeared so innocent and bright. Like a kite filled with wind, intoxicated by the natural scenery and summer activities, the author poured out his heart to fly high with the children's souls. From there, the work evokes love for nature and the country, helping children enjoy a peaceful and useful break to continue studying and practicing when entering the new school year.

The poem is called "Summer Buzz", a very poetic and clear name. Because, through the eyes of the children, summer appears bustling, bustling, full of sounds and colors. Especially the sounds of birds, cicadas, flutes like an excited choir when summer comes. All have created a very bustling and emotional picture.

Reading throughout the poem "Summer Buzz", author Nguyen Huu Quy mentioned many things, thereby creating a rich and vivid picture of a summer day. Each thing has its own characteristics, described with unique words and images. That is the jackfruit with honey-yellow segments as if the brilliant summer had just "crawled in". The red sun high in the sky seemed to be "herding watermelons by the river". The bright red color of the royal poinciana flowers on the branches seemed to be strung with thousands of lanterns. From the fields, each branch of blooming rice was emitting a fragrant scent. The most vibrant and resonant was still the sound of birds "practicing their voices" with the summer and the sound of cicadas appearing and disappearing as if playing hide-and-seek somewhere. Finally, there was the image of a kite flying up with the sound of a flute whistling in the vast sky and earth, blending with the innocent souls of bustling children.

Of the four stanzas, the third stanza is the most impressive and stirring, it is a symphony of the bustling summer. Compared to the other seasons, the days of summer are usually longer, so the sun also "wakes up early". Summer wakes up, the birds chirp happily as if they are "practicing their voices". In addition, the children are resting and playing hide and seek, so it is no different from the sound of cicadas outside, calling the bustling summer back: "Summer still often wakes up early/Practicing their voices with the birds/Summer plays hide and seek/The sound of cicadas calls me".

In terms of art, poet Nguyen Huu Quy was very talented in the art of describing a cheerful and lively picture of summer. Reading the entire poem, we encounter many verbs such as "crawl", "blanket", "climb", "fly", "wake up", "practice", "play", "call" ... which personify the image of summer as a very mischievous and active child. Along with that, the colors "honey yellow", "bright red" make the summer scene even more brilliant and eye-catching. Thanks to that, the poem "Summer bustle" easily enters the souls of children, because the sounds and colors are full, vibrating with sincere and passionate emotions.

"Summer Buzz" is a special children's poem by author Nguyen Huu Quy. Not only does it have the buzz of a brilliant summer with lively sounds, we also hear the buzz of a mischievous, innocent childhood soul. Listening deeper, readers can find here a bit of the poet's nostalgia and regret for the sky of youth, the desire to fly once again with the kite of childhood dreams.
