According to data fromTransfermarkt, Lionel Messi is the most expensive player over 35 years old in the world (35 million euros). This figure is equivalent to the valuation of Transfermarkt for Cristiano Ronaldo 2 years ago, when the Portuguese superstar was the same age as Messi is now.
At 36, Messi remains a mainstay for both the Argentina national team and Inter Miami. The reigning World Cup champion and his home team led the South American qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup and just helped Inter Miami win the first title in the club's history, the North-Central American Cup.
