Mrs. Pham Thi Ngoc Cam set a Vietnamese record: The oldest person capable of performing 8 Aqua Yoga poses floating on water and spinning 80 times underwater continuously.
On December 3, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Record Association, Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings) announced and honored Mrs. Pham Thi Ngoc Cam (born in 1945, in Long Bien, Hanoi) for setting a Vietnamese Record with the content: The oldest person capable of performing 8 Aqua Yoga poses floating on water and rotating 80 times underwater continuously.
At the event, witnessed by the Vietnam Record Board and many guests, Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Cam successfully performed 80 consecutive rotations underwater, combined with 8 Aqua Yoga poses floating on the water. Her Vietnam record was officially established. The Vietnam Record Organization awarded her a certificate right at the event.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Ngoc, General Secretary of the Vietnam Record Organization, said: "This is an unprecedented achievement at the age of Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Cam. Setting a record at this age contributes to affirming that we can absolutely become record holders at any age, as long as we have enough perseverance to pursue our passion, have talent and the will to break our own barriers and limits."
Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Cam shared that she was very honored, proud and happy to have her record confirmed by the Vietnam Record Organization and awarded this prestigious certificate.
Originally a high school literature teacher, Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Cam fell in love with Yoga during her retirement to improve her physical fitness. With the love of teaching as a teacher, when she realized that Yoga has many health benefits, she decided to become a trainer for everyone.
In 2012, she opened Ananda Yoga Center in Hanoi and taught until 2019. Later, in order to improve her skills and challenge herself, she turned to Aqua Yoga (practicing Yoga underwater). This subject is still quite new and there are few places accepting to teach in Vietnam.
The first challenge Ms. Ngoc Cam performed was Aqua Yoga poses floating on water. Many people can float on water for a long time, but floating to perform Yoga poses and maintaining balance while practicing is very difficult.
Not stopping there, Ms. Ngoc Cam continued to challenge herself with the continuous underwater rotation position. This movement requires the practitioner to maintain a stable breathing rhythm and balance because it is easy to cause dizziness when having to rotate.
It can be said that the record of the impressive Aqua Yoga performance of Mrs. Pham Thi Ngoc Cam has truly become a milestone that breaks down the prejudices about age in physical training of Vietnamese people. With determination and hard work every day, Mrs. Ngoc Cam successfully completed the challenge that even young people find difficult to keep up with, becoming a typical Record holder in terms of will, a shining example for young people to follow.
