Westlife's first show in Vietnam - The Wild Dreams Tour for 16,000 fans ended with explosive emotions, complete with hits like Uptown Girl, Fool Again...
The amazing performances on stage by the Westlife boys and the enthusiastic cheering from nearly 16,000 spectators filling Thong Nhat Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City created an explosive, satisfying, and emotional night.
Night of Dreams
On the evening of November 21, the weather in Ho Chi Minh City was not rainy, the wind was light, but the atmosphere in Thong Nhat Stadium was "hotter" than ever, up to nearly 16,000 "degrees" of fans eagerly waiting for Westlife's first show - The Wild Dreams Tour in Vietnam.
From 5pm, the check-in queue had stretched out at all 3 ticket gates of the stadium to relive the beautiful moments of youth with the immortal love songs of the 4 boys of Westlife.
After 7pm, all the seats in the stadium were filled with spectators. When the lights went out, the entire stadium was lit up in a prosperous green by thousands of LED bars from VPBank, the biggest sponsor of the two shows bringing Westlife to Vietnam this time. The fans continuously cheered with excitement.
After an artistic introduction clip, the four “romantic princes of love songs” appeared before the Vietnamese audience. After 12 years of waiting, Vietnamese fans finally got to sing along with their idols in the opening song Starlight with its vibrant melody and fireworks and confetti filling the sky, creating an overwhelming and emotional scene.
In elegant suits, the four boys made the audience go crazy with their seemingly time-forgotten charisma and powerful voices. For nearly 2 hours, the band performed a complete song list of all the hits of the 8X and 9X generations such as Uptown Girl, Fool Again, If I Let You Go, Swear It Again, Nothing gone change my love for you, I lay my love on you, My love, You raise me up…
In particular, the group's cover of ABBA's hit medley such as Mamma Mia, Gimme Gimme Gimme, Money Money Money, Take a Chance on Me, I Have a Dream, Dancing Queen, Waterloo, Thank You for the Music was humorously called "youth in the capital" by the audience and was also one of the interesting highlights of the show.
The stage and visuals of the performances were truly eye-catching, especially the climaxes with fireworks and confetti exploding brilliantly, pushing the audience's emotions to the extreme. The stage lighting combined with the prosperous blue sea of fans and the perfect sound quality brought a top-notch international performance.
While in their music videos, Westlife always leave an impression as a gentle, romantic pop ballad band, on stage they are an explosive, energetic and humorous version of Ireland. Fans seem to melt with Mark's smiles and winks, Nick's friendly interactions, Kian's closeness and Shane's humor.
The entire audience was mesmerized by the talented and unique guidance of 4 extremely professional "MCs" named Westlife, creating emotional moments of fanchants echoing throughout the stadium, of the extremely brilliant interactive flashlight sea and of the forest of lightsticks glowing in harmony with each beat of the music from the beginning to the end of the show.
The Westlife boys also did not forget to show their gratitude to Vietnamese fans when Mark expressed his love for Vietnamese fans by expressing his love by saying “I love you” in Vietnamese, delicately written on his pulse, or respectfully raising the Vietnamese and Irish flags and bowing deeply to the Vietnamese audience. The songs My Love and You Raise Me Up - the two most popular songs of the group in Vietnam - were placed at the end of the show, showing that Westlife truly has a lot of love and dedication for Vietnamese fans.
Fan's Youth Journey
Only when you get to the stadium and join the nearly 16,000 fans can you truly feel the difference of the show. Westlife's audience spans all ages, from beautiful 7X, 8X ladies exuding success to stylish GenZ youth. But when the timeless melodies play, it seems like everyone is one on a journey of emotions and music.
“I have waited many years to sit here and fulfill my youthful dream. I want to share with my child my youthful memories and so we have another full and happy emotional memory,” said Ms. Nhu Anh, a businesswoman in Hanoi. As a priority customer of VPBank, as soon as she received the invitation from the bank, Ms. Nhu Anh arranged her busy work to have time to watch the show with her daughter.
“Seeing Westlife perform with my own eyes was truly an unparalleled experience. They were so different from what I had imagined, but so much more wonderful,” said Hoang Linh, a spectator from Dong Nai.
Right after the show ended, social media platforms were flooded with the show’s blue color. The most shared story was probably the joy of “losing my voice” because of the guys.
"I have never screamed like this before. You guys are the ones singing, but I am the one who lost my voice," Mai Anh from Hanoi humorously said.
The boys' ageless visuals and live voices that devour the CD also make many fans swoon. "They are 40 years old but still incredibly handsome. Not the pure beauty of 'white moonlight' but hot guys with a bit of worldly, wonderful masculinity," - commented Hi Lan Anh, a fan of the 8X generation. Minh Anh, a male fan of GenZ, was surprised by the boys' singing: "I feel no different from listening to CDs, really great."
Along with thousands of spectators, fans were also delighted to see some famous names in the entertainment industry also joining in with their idols at Westlife's concert, such as Kha Ngan, Quynh Lam... All of them were wholeheartedly "burning" themselves out with their idols.
Westlife's first show in Vietnam - The Wild Dreams Tour ended with explosive, complete emotions.
Sharing about the show, a representative of the largest sponsor, VPBank, said: “We are very happy and proud to join the organizers in bringing a meaningful and classy show to thousands of Vietnamese fans in general and 5,000 VPBank customers in particular. Westlife's two shows, as well as many other music nights that we have organized, are not just purely entertainment events, but also emotional and spiritual experiences, a meaningful gift of 'spiritual prosperity' that VPBank wants to send to customers and fans.”
