Vietnam promotes Golf and MICE tourism in the Korean market

Korea is considered a key international market of Da Nang, so the locality has actively promoted MICE and Golf tourism with travel agencies and partner services.

Vietnam is considered an emerging destination for Golf tourism.

The program to introduce Da Nang tourism in particular and Vietnam in general took place in Seoul, Korea on September 25, aiming to promote destinations and unique products, focusing on promoting MICE and Golf tourism products.

The program is chaired by the Department of Tourism of Da Nang City, in coordination with the Tourism Promotion Representative Office of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism in Korea.

According to statistics from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, South Korea has always been the leader in the international tourist market to Da Nang and has had continuous growth since 2015. Thanks to the advantage of having an international seaport and airport, being close to the world heritage sites of the Central region, along with rich and diverse tourism products and guaranteed security, Da Nang is becoming an attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists, including South Korean tourists.

In particular, after Vietnam opened its doors to international tourism, the destination of Da Nang recovered positively and made a breakthrough. As of September 2023, the number of visitors served by accommodation establishments is estimated at more than 5.8 million, equal to 115% compared to the same period in 2019; international visitors are estimated at 1.56 million, equal to 98% compared to the same period in 2019, of which Korea is the leading international market with more than 1 million visitors, accounting for 48% of the structure of international visitors to Da Nang.

On that basis, local leaders assessed that Korea is a key international market, Da Nang tourism needs to increase promotional activities, focusing on in-depth introduction of MICE and Golf tourism to travel agencies and partner services.

Hoi An is a destination recommended by foreign magazines to experience after MICE tourists come to Da Nang.

Accordingly, the program introducing Da Nang tourism in Seoul, Korea updates destination information, tourism development orientation towards a vibrant event/festival city, and provides information on new products and services, focusing on beach resort products, MICE tourism, and Golf tourism for the Korean market.

A representative of the Da Nang Department of Tourism said that leading prestigious MICE tourism news sites in Australia, New Zealand, etc. rated Da Nang as an ideal MICE destination in the region, developing into a stopover for conferences, seminars, events, and gratitude and hospitality activities.

In order to promote the development of the international MICE market, Da Nang city has issued a program to support domestic and international MICE guests in 2023. Specifically, domestic and international business delegations coming to Da Nang are welcomed at the airport with the Da Nang MICE check-in model, welcome banners, giving flowers to the delegation leader and Da Nang specialties to the members of the delegation, and supporting the delivery of welcome information on LED screens at the baggage claim area at the terminal.

Da Nang is also positioning its Golf destination brand on the regional and world Golf tourism map by hosting the Asian Development Tour golf tournament for 3 consecutive years from 2022-2024. The tournament named BRG Open Golf Championship Da Nang was successfully held in 2022 and 2023, attracting the attention of many professional golfers, including typical names from the land of kimchi such as Minhyeok Yang, Hyukchul Shin, Minwoo Park.

Notably, recently, Australia's Micenet magazine, specializing in event business, commented that Da Nang is becoming a destination for MICE tourism thanks to its series of hotels and resorts capable of organizing events, conferences, seminars, and meeting other business requirements.

Resorts named by Micenet include: Danang Marriott Resort & Spa, Pullman, Furama, Crowne Plaza, Hyatt Regency, Vinpearl, Sheraton Grand... Independent venues such as APEC Park and Ariyana Danang International Convention Center also serve many different types of events.

Da Nang is also famous and attracts tourists with famous attractions such as Ngu Hanh Son, temples, spiritual pagodas, or Sun World Ba Na Hills entertainment complex with a giant cable car system and the highlight is the unique Golden Bridge. In addition, festivals and exciting activities and programs take place all year round, from culture, cuisine, music, cinema to sports, health ...

Micenet also suggests that businesses can choose to organize conferences, seminars, and events on the occasion of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival DIFF, or the Da Nang Golf Tourism Festival with the professional tournament BRG Open Golf Championship Danang and highly rated high-class golf courses.

The Australian magazine also suggests that tourists can combine their MICE trip with exploring the beautiful ancient town of Hoi An, which has ancient, moss-covered houses, silk costumes and beautiful ceramic works. Hoi An at night is especially charming thanks to the brilliant colors of the shimmering, magical lanterns.

The journey can be extended more interestingly if visitors continue to explore the winding Hai Van Pass to reach the ancient capital of Hue tinged with time, admire the historical relics and ancient architecture in Hue Citadel, the tombs of Nguyen Dynasty kings and sacred pagodas...
