General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong welcomed German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's official visit to Vietnam, emphasizing that the visit is an important milestone in the bilateral relationship, taking place more than 10 years after establishing the Strategic Partnership in 2011, when the two countries are entering a new stage of development in the context of rapid and complicated developments in the international situation.

Appreciating the good results of the talks between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and welcoming the cooperation agreements signed by the ministries and sectors of the two sides during the visit, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to the strategic partnership with Germany, is pleased with the positive developments in bilateral relations, and suggests that the two sides maintain and promote the achievements made in recent times, continue to promote cooperation, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong discussed with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz a number of major directions and measures to promote cooperation in all fields, promote effective and substantive development of bilateral relations, and bring bilateral relations to a new stage of development commensurate with the wishes and potentials of both sides.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong discussed with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz about Vietnam's great, comprehensive and outstanding achievements after 35 years of Doi Moi. Vietnam has never had the foundation, potential, position and international prestige like today, about the positive results in disease prevention and control, economic recovery and development, ensuring social security and Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification of relations.

On this occasion, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong thanked Germany for its cooperation and support for Vietnam over the years, including the provision of COVID-19 vaccines, which have helped Vietnam repel the pandemic and soon reopen and restore its socio-economy.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz thanked General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong for taking the time to receive the delegation, as well as the warm welcome given to the delegation by the Vietnamese leaders and people.

Congratulating Vietnam on its impressive achievements in national development, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz affirmed that Germany values ​​the Germany-Vietnam strategic partnership, as well as Vietnam's international role and position, including Vietnam's role in ASEAN.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz shared the General Secretary's assessment of the positive developments in the strategic partnership between the two countries in recent times, highly appreciated the good results of the phone call between the Prime Minister and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in March 2022, agreed to enhance bilateral relations, outline plans to implement the strategic partnership, strengthen cooperation in traditional areas and expand to new areas such as energy transition, supply chain diversification, and defense-security cooperation.

The two leaders also discussed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern, including promoting cooperation between the two sides at international forums, promoting the role of international law, and consolidating peace and development in the regions.
