Athlete Diep Thi Huong won a gold medal at the 2024 Asian Canoeing Championships

On the morning of April 19, rower Diep Thi Huong excellently won the gold medal in the C1 women's 500m event at the 2024 Asian Canoeing Championship, taking place in Japan.

The female athlete from Vinh Phuc entered the competition with 7 of Asia's strongest racers, including athletes from Taiwan (China), Thailand, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Japan, and Korea.

Despite facing strong opponents, the 23-year-old girl rowed steadily and competed excellently to finish in first place, winning the gold medal with a time of 2 minutes 18 seconds 178, 8 seconds ahead of the runner-up from Kazakhstan - Kisseleva Ulyana. This is a precious gold medal for Vietnamese Canoeing at this biggest tournament in Asia.

The 2024 Asian Canoeing Championship is part of the 2024 Paris Olympic Canoeing Qualifiers and the 2024 Asian Canoeing Championship, being held in Japan from April 18-21.

Vietnam participated in this tournament with 4 athletes competing in 4 events. Of these, 2 events competing for tickets to the Olympics are C1 200m of athlete Nguyen Thi Huong and C2 500m of Nguyen Hong Thai - Nguyen Thi Huong; 2 events competing for the Asian tournament are C1 women's 500m of Diep Thi Huong and C2 500m mixed of Diep Thi Huong and Duong Anh Duc.
