With first place in 5 out of 7 weight categories, Tu Ky district continued to be the overall champion, thereby successfully defending the No. 1 position in the Hai Duong Provincial National Wrestling Championship for 5 consecutive years.
After 1.5 days of exciting competition, on the afternoon of February 26 (January 17), the 2024 Hai Duong Provincial Open Ethnic Wrestling Championship within the framework of the Con Son - Kiep Bac Spring Festival program awarded prizes and closed.
By winning first place in 5 out of 7 weight categories, Tu Ky district won the overall championship, thereby successfully defending the No. 1 position of the tournament for 5 consecutive years.
Specifically, the wrestlers from Tu Ky district who won first prize include: Pham Xuan Ninh (weight class 45-50 kg), Pham Xuan Bao (over 50-55 kg), Nguyen Ngoc Bach (over 60-65 kg), Nguyen Ngoc Tung (over 65-70 kg), Nguyen Van Canh (70-75 kg).
In particular, the two finals of the 65-70 kg and 70-75 kg weight classes were competitions between wrestlers from Tu Ky district.
Second and third prizes went to Nam Sach district and Chi Linh city respectively.
According to the Organizing Committee, this year’s tournament has more participating units and athletes, higher quality wrestlers, and more young wrestlers than last year. The wrestlers brought the audience many attractive performances with technical strikes, counter-attacks, and intense tug-of-war. In addition, many technical moves such as gong, chop, sweep, single pick, double pick, etc. appeared in the matches.
This year's tournament featured 74 official matches in all weight classes; 2 competition matches and 5 wrestling matches. All matches were exciting, with cheers and encouragement from a large audience.
The 2024 Hai Duong Provincial Open Ethnic Wrestling Championship in the Con Son - Kiep Bac Spring Festival program has 42 wrestlers from 7 districts, towns and cities: Tu Ky, Gia Loc, Ninh Giang, Nam Sach, Kinh Mon, Chi Linh City and Hai Duong City participating.
