After deducting costs, the F1 AD 070 hybrid watermelon variety developed by the Center for Application of Scientific and Technological Advances and Varieties Testing in collaboration with farmers can yield a profit of 195-271 million VND/ha.
This spring-summer crop, the Center for Application of Scientific and Technological Advances and Varieties Testing (Department of Science and Technology of Hai Duong) coordinated with farmers in Dinh Son commune (Cam Giang), Nam Hung (Nam Sach) to grow F1 AD 070 hybrid watermelon on a scale of 12 hectares.
The results showed that the germination rate of melons was high, reaching over 95%, the seedlings grew and developed healthily, the plants were uniform and strong. The plants were slightly infected with thrips, wilt, and powdery mildew. The melon yield was 38-42 tons/ha, after deducting costs, the profit was 195-271 million VND/ha, depending on the harvest time.
The center also completed the process of planting and caring for this melon variety to transfer to people.
The above information was given at the public service workshop "Transfer of application of scientific and technological advances in the production of F1 AD070 hybrid watermelon vegetable plants" organized by the Center for Application of Scientific and Technological Advances and Variety Testing on the morning of May 21 in Nam Hung commune (Nam Sach).
According to the evaluation of the workshop delegates and farmers, this melon variety has higher yield and quality than some varieties currently grown locally.
In 2023, the center planted F1 AD070 hybrid watermelon on a scale of 22 hectares. This year, the center continues to expand the model to meet farmers' demand for new, high-quality varieties.
