Watermelon is grown in two crops, spring-summer and summer-autumn, with a total area of over 22.2 hectares in Bang Nghia village, Ngoc Lien commune.
At the end of May 2022, the Farmers' Association of Cam Giang district coordinated to launch the origin tracing stamp, sign cooperation agreements on digital transformation application, and consume Ngoc Lien watermelon products. The application of origin tracing stamps helps Ngoc Lien watermelon increase its value and make it easier to consume.
Traders buy watermelons right in the field at a price of 10,000 - 12,000 VND/kg, 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg higher than the market price.
Farmers are excited because watermelons have a good harvest and good prices.
Nguyen Thi Thoa watermelon purchasing facility in Sai Dong, Long Bien district (Hanoi) has been purchasing Ngoc Lien watermelons for domestic consumption for 14 consecutive years. Every day, the facility purchases from the field from 5-10 tons of fruit.
