In recent days, the number of elderly patients coming to Hai Duong Lung Hospital for examination and treatment has increased by more than 30% compared to before. On average, the hospital examines more than 150 patients per day, of which 60-70 patients have to be hospitalized on peak days. Due to the cold weather, many patients with respiratory failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have progressed severely. Currently, the Emergency Resuscitation Department has 36 patients being treated, of which 9 patients need ventilators. Recently, the number of patients with influenza has increased. From the beginning of January 2025 to now, the hospital has tested 84 patients and detected 19 patients with influenza A and influenza B.
At district-level medical centers, the number of patients related to cardiovascular diseases, blood pressure, and chronic diseases has also increased. The reason is that the cold weather and high humidity make the elderly and children with weak resistance susceptible to disease.
Faced with the above reality, the Department of Health has directed units in the industry to arrange adequate emergency medicine, enough hospital beds, and prepare means to promptly handle common emergency cases such as cardiovascular diseases, strokes, acute respiratory infections, etc. In particular, it is necessary to strengthen training in skills to diagnose and treat strokes, assess the condition and risks of the disease to promptly transfer to the hospital for treatment.
