South Korea's impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol during a hearing at the Constitutional Court in Seoul on February 13.

Yonhap reported on March 7 that the Seoul Central District Court has revoked the arrest warrant for impeached South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and released him, after nearly two months of detention on charges of rebellion related to the martial law decree he issued in December 2024.

The court's decision came about a month after Yoon's lawyers filed a petition asking the court to quash the arrest warrant, claiming that the indictment against Yoon announced by the South Korean Prosecutors' Office on January 26 was illegal because it came a day after his detention period had expired.

Immediately after the news, the South Korean Presidential Office "welcomed the decision to cancel the arrest warrant for the President" by the Seoul Central District Court, and expressed hope that Mr. Yoon will soon return to work.
