General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong receives Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation

Welcoming the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong highly appreciated the significance of the visit and welcomed the results of the talks and meetings with senior leaders of Vietnam. The General Secretary expressed his belief that the visit will make an important contribution to strengthening cooperation between the two countries' parliaments and promoting the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed that Vietnam always appreciates the valuable and wholehearted support and assistance that the Soviet people and the Russian people have given Vietnam during the arduous years of resistance as well as in the cause of national construction and defense later, affirming the importance of the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia. The Communist Party of Vietnam attaches importance to developing relations with political parties in Russia. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong outlined a number of major directions to continue promoting Vietnam - Russian Federation relations in the coming time.

The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam again and meet General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, and respectfully conveyed the warm greetings of Russian President V. Putin and senior leaders of the Russian Federation to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Chairman Vyacheslav Vichtorovich Volodin affirmed that despite the many parties with different political tendencies, the State Duma of the Russian Federation always supports the promotion of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam. The Russian Federation always considers Vietnam a priority and important partner in its foreign policy in the Asia-Pacific region.

Informing the General Secretary about the results of his talks with National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and the second session of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Russian State Duma, Mr. Vyacheslav Vichtorovich Volodin affirmed that the Russian State Duma will strive to strengthen the close cooperation mechanism between the two countries' National Assemblies, enhance supervision and promote the implementation of agreements between the two countries' senior leaders, contributing to promoting Vietnam-Russia cooperation in the fields of economy-trade, defense, security, culture and education. The Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation also highly appreciated the results of the meetings with President Vo Van Thuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

On the afternoon of October 16, 2023, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Vichtorovich Volodin and the high-ranking delegation of the State Duma of the Russian Federation returned home, successfully concluding a two-day official visit to Vietnam.
