On the afternoon of February 16, at the National Assembly House, Politburo member and Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man chaired a meeting to prepare activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the first general election to elect the Vietnamese National Assembly (January 6, 1946 - January 6, 2026).
At the meeting, Secretary General of the National Assembly and Head of the National Assembly Office Bui Van Cuong informed delegates about some of the work that the National Assembly Office has carried out related to preparation work; about the expected series of key activities and organizational work to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Vietnamese National Assembly.
Through discussion, the delegates basically agreed with the contents of the draft Plan on the implementation method, content, and implementation roadmap. The delegates also gave specific opinions on the drafts: Notice of the conclusion of the National Assembly Party Delegation; Resolution on the establishment of the Steering Committee; Decision on the assignment of tasks to members of the Steering Committee; Plan to organize the 80th Anniversary of the First General Election to elect the National Assembly of Vietnam.
Opinions unanimously agreed that the process of organizing activities must ensure solemnity, without ostentation, formality, waste or expense. At the same time, it must be associated with promoting the implementation of socio-economic development tasks, patriotic emulation movements; historical research and traditional education for the younger generation; caring for and improving the material and cultural life of the people, especially in places where historical events took place; creating profound changes in the awareness and actions of the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army in implementing the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's policies and laws.
In his concluding remarks, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man welcomed the leaders of the National Assembly Office and relevant agencies for proactively proposing the meeting and at the same time drafting documents for timely implementation, especially for propaganda work.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly emphasized that the activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Assembly of Vietnam are an important event taking place during the term of the 15th National Assembly with many meaningful activities, having a strong influence, contributing to widely disseminating to a large number of voters and people nationwide about the history of formation, development and achievements of the National Assembly of Vietnam over the past 80 years.

With that practical meaning, the celebration needs to be carried out in diverse forms, with focus and key points; associated with activities to celebrate major holidays in 2025 and 2026; ensuring practical, safe, economical, effective requirements, without ostentation; creating an exciting atmosphere throughout the country.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly requested the National Assembly Office to continue directing relevant departments and units to urgently receive and complete the document and send it to the Secretary of the National Assembly Party Delegation and Chairman of the National Assembly, Vuong Dinh Hue, for comments to sign and issue the Notice of Conclusion of the National Assembly Party Delegation.
Based on the announcement of the Conclusion of the National Assembly Party Delegation, the National Assembly Office will continue to submit to the National Assembly Standing Committee for comments on the draft Plan to organize the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Vietnamese National Assembly.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly also noted that during the implementation process, it is necessary to study the experience of organizing activities to celebrate the 70th and 75th anniversaries of the Vietnamese National Assembly, and at the same time closely coordinate with ministries, departments and branches at the central and local levels to ensure effective implementation of work on schedule.
