A knee injury has prevented Hai Duong striker Nguyen Van Toan from participating in the two semi-final matches of the ASEAN Cup 2024 against Singapore.
Van Toan was injured after a collision in front of the Myanmar penalty area in the 61st minute. While lying on the field, he appeared to be in pain and burst into tears. The Vietnamese striker was then carried off the field on a stretcher and was unable to continue playing.
According to the test results this morning, December 22, Van Toan has a knee injury, showing signs of ligament damage. With this type of injury, the player will need a long time to recover, while the ASEAN Cup is only 2 weeks away. For now, Van Toan will definitely not be able to participate in the semi-finals against Singapore. The first leg will take place on December 26, and the return leg on December 29.
In the past, Van Toan also had to say goodbye to the AFF Cup, now the ASEAN Cup, in 2018 under coach Park Hang-seo. At that time, he was injured during a training session in the group stage.
