Promoting gender equality contributes to reducing gender imbalance at birth

The Department has compiled documents and sent them to media agencies and health centers of districts, towns and cities in the province, requesting coordination to widely disseminate the message of this year's World Population Day with the theme: "Promoting the power of gender equality: Raising the voices of women and girls to unleash the unlimited potential of our world". Focus on promoting to change the awareness of all levels, sectors, socio-political organizations and people towards the implementation of gender equality. Continue to promote propaganda activities on gender equality, control of gender imbalance at birth, the role and position of women and girls in society; contents on pre-marital health consultation and examination, reducing unwanted pregnancies and abortions among adolescents and young people...

The provincial Department of Population and Family Planning recommends that localities combine propaganda of World Population Day messages on Facebook, Zalo, and electronic information portals; encourage localities to conduct mobile propaganda in densely populated areas with high gender imbalance rates at birth.

Hai Duong is still one of the localities with a high gender imbalance at birth, in 2022 the ratio was 118.5 boys/100 girls.
