Within the framework of his official visit to Korea, on the morning of July 2, at the Korean National Assembly, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting with Speaker of the Korean National Assembly Woo Won-shik.
Welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation on an official visit to the Republic of Korea - the first visit by a high-ranking Vietnamese leader since the two countries upgraded their relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, National Assembly Chairman Woo Won-shik expressed his belief that the visit will contribute to further deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries and promoting the concretization of bilateral relations under the new framework.
National Assembly Chairman Woo Won-shik congratulated Vietnam on its recent socio-economic development achievements; assessed that the two countries share many similarities in history, culture, and priorities in economic development such as digital transformation, green transformation, and climate change response as well as complement each other in terms of economy and human resources.
National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik affirmed that the Korean National Assembly will closely cooperate with the Vietnamese National Assembly to support the two governments in effectively and substantially implementing the Action Program to implement the new framework of relations and promoting cooperation in economic security and human resource connection.
Expressing his joy at visiting the beautiful and hospitable country of Korea, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked the National Assembly and people of Korea for their warm and thoughtful welcome.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh warmly congratulated Mr. Woo Won-shik on his recent election as Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea; conveyed the congratulations and regards of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and senior leaders of Vietnam to Speaker Woo Won-shik and expressed his belief that Korea will continue to develop, achieve more success, and contribute to increasingly enhancing its position in the region and internationally, in which the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea plays an important role.
The two sides assessed that the Vietnam-Korea relationship has developed rapidly and substantially in many areas since the two countries upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership, with positive results in trade, investment, and people-to-people exchange.
The two leaders agreed to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries' parliaments in the coming time through promoting exchanges of parliamentary delegations and leaders of specialized committees, promoting exchanges between parliamentarians and young parliamentarians of the two countries' parliaments as well as promoting the bridging role of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups of each country; sharing experiences in law-making, building institutions for sustainable development and digital and green transformation; and continuing to promote the role of the two countries' legislative bodies in supporting the two countries' governments in promoting bilateral cooperation, including achieving the goal of bringing trade turnover to 100 billion USD in 2025.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two countries' parliaments cooperate closely to effectively implement bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms; support and approve policies to support Vietnamese enterprises to participate more deeply in the global supply chain of Korean enterprises; continue to further open the door for Vietnam's key export goods to the Korean market, including agricultural and aquatic products; promote cooperation between the two countries in the fields of digital transformation and green transformation; Korea supports Vietnam in training human resources in fields such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, etc.
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea proposed that the Vietnamese Government pay attention to and create favorable conditions for Korean enterprises to do business in Vietnam. Appreciating the positive contributions of the overseas Vietnamese labor community in each country, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea agreed to work with the Vietnamese National Assembly to promote the Korean and Vietnamese Governments in protecting and supporting the overseas Vietnamese communities of the two countries to live stably in their home countries; promote cultural exchanges, tourism cooperation, and exchanges between localities and people of the two countries, thereby enhancing understanding between the people of the two countries and creating a foundation for developing sustainable relations between the two countries.
At the meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern; agreed to coordinate and support each other at international organizations. On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man's invitation to visit Vietnam soon to National Assembly Chairman Woo Won-shik. Chairman Woo Won-shik happily accepted the invitation.
