Defender Ho Tan Tai was diagnosed with a torn cruciate ligament and needs surgery and a long-term layoff like Nguyen Xuan Son.
Similar to Nguyen Xuan Son, Ho Tan Tai's injury stemmed from a wrong landing position in the match against Singapore in the semi-finals of the ASEAN Cup 2024.
However, the defender from Binh Dinh did not have a broken bone but was initially diagnosed by doctors with a torn knee ligament, requiring at least 6 weeks to recover.
After the 2024 ASEAN Cup, Tan Tai returned to his home team to recuperate and train. However, the results of the examination at the hospital showed that Tan Tai had torn his anterior cruciate ligament, needed surgery and could be out of action for at least 9 months.
In case Vietnamese players are injured while competing in the ASEAN Cup, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) will support treatment and cover all medical expenses until they fully recover.
Tan Tai's case is similar to Nguyen Xuan Son's, the leaders of Becamex Binh Duong Club will consult with VFF before performing surgery on this defender.
With this injury, Tan Tai will have to say goodbye to the remaining journey of the 2024-2025 season. This is also a big loss for the Vietnamese team before participating in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Football Cup, which will take place at the end of March 2025.
