TCL X955 Max uses the world's largest QD-MiniLED panel, 4K resolution and runs Google TV operating system.
After being introduced at the CES 2024 consumer electronics exhibition in the US earlier this year, TCL soon brought its high-end TV model to the Vietnamese market in April. The product is priced at 699 million VND, the most expensive among TCL's TV lines currently on sale. However, this price is not equal to high-end models such as LG OLED Z3, OLED G3 or Samsung Neo QLED 8K QN990C with a listed price of around 900 million VND.
The X955 Max uses a QD-MiniLED panel, combining quantum dot technology with a MiniLED backlight system. This type of panel cannot yet match OLED or microLED in terms of display capabilities, but is a good choice for manufacturers who want to make large, good quality screens at a reasonable cost.
TCL says the X955 Max is the first MiniLED TV with more than 20,000 light control zones, delivering deep blacks and a high contrast ratio of 50,000,000:1, approaching OLED TVs. Conventional LED TVs only have a few hundred light control zones, while other high-end Mini LEDs have less than 10,000 zones. The TV's brightness is also at the top of the line at 5,000 nits.
TCL's new product has 98% DCI-P3 color coverage, supports 144Hz refresh rate for gaming. The X955 Max's resolution stops at 4K, without adding an 8K option like Samsung. Other features include ALLM compatibility, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision IQ as well as a 6.2.2-channel sound system with integrated Dolby and DTS Sound.
The TV uses a MediaTek Pentonic 700 (MT9653) chip with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB internal memory. The pre-installed operating system is the latest version of Google TV, similar to Sony products with Vietnamese voice control capability and a rich software store.
TCL has been aggressively launching large-screen TVs lately. In the middle of last year, the company introduced a 98-inch model with a list price of VND109 million, the cheapest among TV brands with the same size options. The Chinese manufacturer also has many other large-screen TV options from 75 to 85 inches compared to competitors Samsung and LG.
