On the morning of November 25, the People's Court of Hai Duong City held a first-instance trial and sentenced Nguyen Thanh Tung (born in 1992, residing in Hop Tien commune, My Duc district, Hanoi) to 18 months in prison for illegally possessing military weapons.

In March 2022, Nguyen Thanh Tung rented a house in Hai Tan ward to live and work at Lap Phuong Thanh Driver Training and Testing Center (also in Hai Duong city).

Around June 2022, due to the need to buy guns and bullets for bird hunting, Tung accessed Youtube to search and contact the phone number of a person named Lam in Ho Chi Minh City in a video specializing in selling guns and bullets for hunting. Tung agreed to buy from Lam 2 guns for 12 million VND/gun and 2 boxes of bullets with 898 bullets for 6 million VND. Lam discussed with Tung that he would send the guns and bullets by bus, and Tung said to send them near Hai Tan bus station.

After 2 days, a person contacted Tung to go to the area near Hai Tan bus station to receive a box of goods and pay 30 million VND. After receiving the goods, Tung brought them back to his rented room to check and then hid the 2 guns and 898 bullets in the wardrobe in the bedroom.

After buying the gun, Tung hid it and did not use it. On August 1, 2022, Hai Duong City Police discovered and seized 2 guns (1 gun 100 cm long, 1 gun 90 cm long) which were military weapons and 898 5.6 mm bullets belonging to sports weapons stored in 2 ammunition boxes hidden by Tung.

The trial panel sentenced Nguyen Thanh Tung to 18 months in prison for illegal possession of military weapons under Clause 1, Article 304 of the Penal Code.
