The appeal of socialism

We can affirm that socialism is still a reality at many levels in the world today. That reality is manifesting very vividly, with strong appeal to humanity.

Recently, on some forums, social networks and Vietnamese websites of some foreign press agencies, there have been opinions deliberately claiming that "the future of this world does not have socialism", "socialism is an illusion", "socialism is a path that does not reach the destination", "socialism is an illusion".

The above opinions imply skepticism about the reality of the socialist ideal that humanity is striving for and intend to deny the socialist path that the Party, Uncle Ho and the Vietnamese people have chosen, are building and have achieved many great achievements.

According to the concept of C.Marx and F.Engels, socialism is first and foremost the movement of real life in the direction of socialization. It is opposed to the trend of privatization. Along with the maturity of the workers' movement, the formation of communist parties, the struggle for the ideals of justice, equality, democracy, freedom... has been guided by scientific socialist theory. The inevitable and the spontaneous blend together to raise awareness and effectiveness of action for humanity.

Marxism-Leninism points out the levels of realization of socialism. At the level are factors and premises of a socialized nature, along with the industrial revolutions that are continuing to promote this trend, making production, services, and consumption increasingly linked.

At the level of socialist trends and movements towards fairness, equality, democracy... the specific manifestation is the search for a model of social organization different from capitalism. That is the negation of the type of social organization "taking profit as the ultimate goal, considering the possession of wealth and increasing material consumption as the measure of civilization, taking personal interests as the pillar of society" - as stated by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in the article "Some theoretical and practical issues on socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam".

Currently, this development model is a reality in many Nordic countries and some other developed countries. In these countries, as many studies have shown, although they are still capitalist, many socialist values and socialist factors have been and are being accumulated.

At the level of the socialist regime, after the crisis of a socialist construction model in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union (1989-1991), many countries still maintained the socialist regime, carried out reforms and achieved many great achievements of historical significance. Real socialism is the reality in many countries such as Vietnam, China, Laos, Cuba...

Interestingly, some “pieces” of the future society - communism, are also gradually appearing in many areas of life today. The self-governing regime of residential communities, which C. Marx believed would replace the state in a communist society, has now appeared in many countries in some areas of social governance. Professor Klaus Schwab, Chairman of the World Economic Forum and also the author of the concept of “industrial revolution 4.0”, commented that: Currently, we already have information communism! His implication reflects the fact that today, if you have the means to connect to the Internet, if you have a need to learn, just type a keyword into a search engine, there will be millions of pieces of information and almost completely free! Even in Vietnam, in today's market economy, many voluntary acts of charity also reflect the way of thinking and acting of people in the future society: "free bread", "free drinks", "free car repair service"...

We can consider the above examples as “pieces” of reality that are shaping the future society – communist society. Thus, with a scientific perspective, we can affirm that socialism is still a reality at many levels in the world today. That reality is manifesting very vividly, with a strong appeal to humanity.
