Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha noted that the operating mechanism of storm No. 6 (storm Trami) is very special, after reaching the mainland, it turned towards the East Sea.

On the morning of October 27, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha chaired a meeting with ministries, branches and online to 8 localities: Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Kon Tum to direct the implementation of response work to storm No. 6 (storm Tra Mi).

Mr. Mai Van Khiem, Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, said that at 7:00 a.m. the same day, the center of the storm was 75km from Da Nang, with winds of level 9-10, gusting to level 12, moving west at a speed of 20km/h. Due to the impact of storm No. 6, winds of level 8, gusting to level 10 were recorded on Con Co Island (Quang Tri).

"Storm Trami is different from usual. This storm will make landfall in the southern Quang Tri to northern Quang Nam area and then turn towards the East Sea, weakening into a tropical depression. Therefore, strong winds at sea will last until the night of October 28," said Mr. Mai Van Khiem.

According to Mr. Khiem, the rainfall will last from October 27 to the next 2-3 days. Specifically, it is forecasted that in Quang Binh - Quang Nam, the rainfall will be from 200 - 400mm, in some places up to 600mm; in the southern areas of Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Ngai, Kon Tum, the rainfall will be from 150 - 250mm, in some places over 400mm; in the northern areas of Nghe An, Gia Lai, the rainfall will be from 50 - 100mm, in some places over 150m.

"From Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, there will be over 30 districts and urban areas with a total of 365 communes at risk of flooding," the Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warned.

Regarding flash floods and landslides, due to the characteristics of widespread, prolonged rain and relatively large rainfall, there is a high to very high risk of flash floods and landslides.

A representative of the Quang Tri Hydrometeorological Station said that on the morning of October 27, the storm center approached the sea of ​​Quang Tri province, with strong winds of level 8 - 9. Regarding rainfall, in the Delta region, there was rain from 100 - 200mm, in some coastal areas over 200 - 250mm, in mountainous areas from 50 - 100mm, many places in the southwest of the province had rain from 150 - 180mm.

A representative of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province informed that in Hue city there are strong winds, level 7, gusting to level 8 - 9. Since last night, there have been winds of level 5 - 6, in the north of the city to Phu Loc there are winds of level 7, in some places winds of level 8 - 9.

"Last night, we predicted strong winds so we issued a notice banning people from going out and preparing military and police forces to be ready for rescue," said a representative of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province.

A representative of the Ministry of National Defense said that since the storm formed, the unit has mobilized 275,480 people, including more than 80,019 soldiers, 199,461 militiamen, and 12,503 military vehicles of all kinds, ready to respond to this storm.

Specifically, Military Region 3 mobilized 51,075 people, 582 cars, boats, and special vehicles. Military Region 4 mobilized 135,781 people, 1,195 cars, boats, and special vehicles. Military Region 5 mobilized 55,163 people, 1,660 cars, boats, and 3 airplanes. The Air Defense - Air Force mobilized 4,600 people, 206 vehicles, and 8 airplanes. Army Corps 18 mobilized 30 people, 2 helicopters, and 4 cars.

Up to now, 67,212 vehicles/307,822 people have been counted and instructed on the developments and direction of the storm. Of these, 35 ships/184 people (Quang Ngai) are operating in the North East Sea and Hoang Sa archipelago; currently, there are no vehicles in the danger zone, the vehicles in the affected area are moving to avoid it.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha said that the mechanism of operation of storm No. 6 is very special, when the storm reaches the mainland, it turns towards the East Sea. At the same time, according to forecasts of many international meteorological agencies, in early November, a low pressure area will form that can strengthen into a storm, the forecast work needs to be specific, early forecast for the people.

"Recently, we have used drones to inspect and detect cracks on the hills to make forecasts, warnings, and evacuate residents. I propose that the Ministry of National Defense, in the spirit of support and coordination, help localities survey the status of cracks and fractures in densely populated areas, and have geological fault maps to reduce the damage of this storm," said Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha also asked the Ministry of Information and Communications and telecommunications corporations to closely coordinate with localities to maintain information connections in areas that are vulnerable to isolation, in order to maintain production and economic development.

"Forecasting work needs to be closer, and we request that media agencies actively inform about the complex nature of storm Trami," said Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha.
