Department of Health reports 1 death suspected of eating bread in Vung Tau

The case of the 71-year-old man who died of suspected food poisoning was determined to have bought and eaten bread at Co Ba Ben Dinh shop (Ward 7, Vung Tau City) - where hundreds of other people were also hospitalized after consuming it.

The Department of Health of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has just sent a report to the provincial People's Committee regarding the suspected food poisoning incident that occurred at Co Ba Ben Dinh sticky rice bread shop, with more than 370 people hospitalized and 1 death.

Accordingly, the person who died of suspected poisoning was Mr. TVR (71 years old, residing in Ward 11, Vung Tau City).

Through verification by the health sector, on the morning of November 27, Mr. R. bought and ate a hamburger at Co Ba Ben Dinh sticky rice sandwich shop. In the evening, he experienced symptoms of stomach pain and vomiting, so he was taken to Vung Tau hospital. After stabilizing, he was discharged home for monitoring.

However, the next morning (November 28), he continued to vomit and have diarrhea, so he was taken to Ba Ria Hospital for emergency treatment. There, doctors diagnosed the patient with sepsis, severe digestive problems, and suspected food poisoning.

At 9:30 p.m. the same day, the patient's condition became worse so relatives asked to go home, then died at home.

Authorities worked at Co Ba Ben Dinh bakery on the morning of November 27. This place has temporarily closed at the request of authorities.

Up to now, through the health sector's monitoring system, the total number of patients hospitalized for suspected food poisoning related to Co Ba Ben Dinh sticky rice bread shop is 379 people.

Of which, 129 people were hospitalized for inpatient treatment (including 6 severe cases of hypotension and shock).

Regarding the suspected food poisoning case, the leaders of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province requested the Department of Health to direct medical facilities to actively treat patients, coordinate to quickly investigate and handle the case as soon as test results are available from the authorities.
