Will there be a new iPhone 17 model named Slim?

Leaked information about the iPhone 16 so far shows that Apple will continue to keep the product line design that has existed since the iPhone 12. But according to analyst Jeff Pu of HIS, the "Apple House" will have a new "makeover" for the smartphone generation expected to launch in 2025.

According to Mr. Pu, the iPhone 17 series models will have a new look, improved front-facing cameras, and a smaller Dynamic Island. If this information is correct, the area considered the most "useless" on the iPhone screen will continue to exist into the 4th production year (starting with the iPhone 14 Pro, Pro Max in 2022).

Additionally, Apple may launch a device with a new name, the iPhone 17 Slim, which is expected to replace the "Plus" in the quartet launched in recent years.

Specifically, the iPhone 17 is rumored to have a 6.1-inch screen; the iPhone 17 Slim is 6.6 inches; the iPhone 17 Pro is 6.3 inches, and the largest model is still the iPhone 17 Pro Max with a 6.9-inch screen. The first three versions all use aluminum and are said to be "more complex" than previous generations, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max continues to use titanium.

Notably, this high-end model is the version with a smaller "Dynamic Island", while other products still retain the current design and size. The smaller adaptive island may be thanks to new "metalens" technology, so far there is no specific information except to help Apple reduce the size of the Face ID sensor.

Before Jeff Lu, another analyst, Ross Young, also mentioned the name "iPhone 17 Slim". In addition to replacing the Plus, this product is said to have a thinner design, explaining the name Slim.

In terms of configuration, the iPhone 17 and 17 Slim are rumored to have 8 GB of RAM, an A18 or A19 processor. The Pro pair will be equipped with 12 GB of RAM, an A19 Pro chip. Currently, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus have 6 GB of RAM, while the Pro and Pro Max duo have 8 GB. With the iPhone 16 series coming out in September this year, many sources confirm that all 4 devices will use 8 GB of RAM before returning to the configuration branching roadmap in 2025.

All four iPhone 17 models will have a 24MP front camera, according to Pu. This is a notable upgrade when the current four models have a front camera of only 12MP. This is more likely to become a reality when expert Ming-Chi Kuo, famous for accurately leaking information about Apple's plans, confirmed that the iPhone 17 series will double the resolution of the front camera compared to today.
