After Tet, stroke patients in Hai Duong increased

On February 5, the Stroke Department (Hai Duong General Hospital) was treating and providing emergency care to 43 stroke patients, an increase of 50% compared to the months before Tet. In particular, from February 3 until now, the department has received 4-5 patients for treatment each day, while previously there were 1-2 patients admitted to the hospital per day.

The increase in stroke patients is not only due to sudden changes in the weather but also because patients do not control underlying diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, etc. well, and do not follow an unreasonable and unscientific diet.

Among the stroke patients being treated at the Provincial General Hospital, the youngest patient is only 44 years old, the rest are over 60 years old. 25% of stroke patients have cerebral hemorrhage, the rest have cerebral infarction.

Master, Doctor Mac Doanh Thinh, Head of Stroke Department informed that this February, the Provincial General Hospital will coordinate with the 108 Military Central Hospital to transfer the technique of removing blood clots to treat stroke patients. The sooner the patient receives blood clot removal intervention, the less sequelae will be left. The optimal intervention time is within 6 hours after the appearance of stroke signs.

Stroke is a dangerous brain emergency, with a very high risk of death if the golden time for treatment is missed (within 24 hours of the onset of symptoms). When the patient has symptoms of sudden hemiplegia, paralysis of the legs, arms, difficulty speaking, loss of speech, headache, unusual dizziness, etc., they need to go to a medical facility for timely diagnosis and treatment.
