France and Britain have given Ukraine permission to strike deep into Russian territory with long-range missiles they have provided. This decision was made after the US gave Ukraine the “green light”.

On November 17, RBC-Ukraine quoted information from Le Figaro (France) saying that after the administration of US President Joe Biden agreed to allow Ukraine to use its long-range weapons to attack the Russian Federation, France and the UK also allowed Ukraine to use SCALP and Storm Shadow missiles for the same purpose.

Thus, the Armed Forces of Ukraine can now conduct strikes deep into Russian territory not only with American ATACMS missiles, but also with SCALP and Storm Shadow.

Earlier, Western media reported that the Biden administration had decided to allow Ukraine to use long-range weapons provided by the US to attack Russian territory.

For months, Ukraine has been asking the US to allow this, but the US has always maintained a cautious stance on the issue.

However, just two months before Donald Trump took office, President Biden decided to support Ukraine's request.

Last week, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha held talks with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The two discussed the issue of authorizing long-range strikes. After the meeting, Sybiha said he was “cautiously optimistic” about the decision.

According to RBC-Ukraine, Ukraine may attack Russian targets with ATACMS missiles in the coming days.

Commenting on the US move, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stressed that President Vladimir Putin had expressed his opinion on the matter.

In September, Mr Putin said Ukrainian forces were not capable of carrying out strikes with long-range missiles supplied by the West without outside support. “The question is not whether Ukraine will be allowed to attack Russia with these weapons,” he said. “It is whether NATO countries will directly become involved in the military conflict.”

Mr. Putin also stressed that if the West allows these attacks, Russia will make appropriate decisions to deal with the threats.
