Vietnam-Korea Festival coming soon in Da Nang City

The opening ceremony of the festival will take place at 7 p.m. on September 7 at the East Sea Park stage. The festival will feature activities such as parades, traditional musical instrument performances, and a Vietnamese food cooking competition.

According to the Department of Foreign Affairs of Da Nang City, in 3 days (September 7-9), in Da Nang City, the Vietnam-Korea Festival will be organized by the Department in coordination with relevant departments, agencies and the Korean Consulate General in Da Nang.

This is an important and meaningful cultural and diplomatic event, marking the 30-year anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Korea diplomatic relations. The event will contribute to enhancing understanding, promoting cooperation and deepening the friendly relationship between Da Nang and Korean localities.

The festival includes outstanding activities such as parades and traditional musical instrument performances by art troupes from Korea on Bach Dang Street; activities of 60 booths introducing information, culture, products, cuisine and traditional folk games of Vietnam and Korea; Vietnamese-Korean food making contest; film screenings, etc.

The opening ceremony of the Festival will take place at 7:00 p.m. on September 7 at the East Sea Park stage.

Over the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Vietnam and South Korea have achieved many important achievements in almost all fields. Vietnam-South Korea relations were upgraded to a “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” in 2022.

South Korea is currently the largest foreign direct investment (FDI) investor in Vietnam with 9,500 projects and a total registered capital of over 80 billion USD. The two countries aim to increase trade turnover to 100 billion USD by 2023 and 150 billion USD by 2030.

Korea is also a key tourist market (the second largest) of Vietnam. The fields of culture and sports have truly become a bridge connecting the people of the two countries. Vietnamese citizens living, studying and working in Korea as well as Korean citizens living, studying and working in Vietnam have been playing a very good role as a bridge for the friendly relations between the two nations.

Da Nang City has established Official Friendship and Cooperation Relations with 5 localities of Korea including Changwon (1997), Daegu (2004), Hwaseong (2008), Seoul (2016) and Jeju (2023) in the fields of tourism, training, personnel exchange, cultural exchange; sharing experiences in the fields of green transportation, smart cities, etc.

As of the second quarter of this year, Da Nang has 268 investment projects of Korean enterprises, with a total investment capital of 362 million USD. Korea is a key tourist market of Da Nang City. In 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic, Da Nang welcomed more than 1.8 million Korean tourists.

In the first 6 months of this year, more than 701,644 Korean visitors chose Da Nang as their tourist destination. Many Korean cultural and artistic exchange activities are regularly held in Da Nang. In particular, in 2015 and 2022, the Vietnam-Korea Festival was successfully held in Da Nang with many special activities.
