Mistakes many people make when using washing machines

Putting heavy objects on the machine, forgetting things in shirt pockets, pants pockets... are common mistakes that many people make when using the washing machine.

Place heavy objects on top of the washing machine

According to washing machine experts, placing heavy items on top causes the machine to lose balance, the washing drum is easily off-center, causing strong vibrations, affecting the durability of the product.

If you have a dryer that is stacked on top of your washing machine, you should buy a washer and dryer combo because the manufacturer will be able to provide additional equipment to reinforce and secure the two machines with suitable accessories. If the two products are not synchronized, you should use a safety rack instead of stacking the dryer on top of the washing machine.

Forgot something in the clothes

Surely everyone has forgotten keys, sharp objects... in their shirt or pants pockets and then put the clothes straight into the washing machine. This can seriously affect the machine's operation, scratching the washing drum. In case the item falls out of the shirt pocket and falls into the washing drum, it can jam the washing drum, causing the machine to burn... Therefore, you should form the habit of checking all shirt and pants pockets before putting clothes in the washing machine.

In addition, you should zip up pants and shirts and press them into the lock mode (folded), to avoid them hitting the washing drum during the machine running. This operation is similar to underwear, clothes with hooks or many strings.

Plug the washing machine into the wall outlet or universal plug.

Washing machines consume more electricity than other electrical appliances in the house, so you should plug the washing machine directly into an independent power outlet. Do not use extension cords or multi-purpose sockets with inappropriate load capacity, which can cause overload, short circuit, or even damage the washing machine.

After washing, you should unplug the washing machine to ensure safety, especially if there are children in the house and the washing drum is open.

Too many clothes in the washing machine

Each washing machine has a clear indication of the amount of clothes that can be washed in one load, for example 7 kg, 8 kg, 11 kg... If your family is small and you do not wash blankets, a 7-8 kg washing machine is a reasonable level. Note that the machine's technical specifications state that 7 kg is equivalent to the machine being able to wash a maximum of 7 kg of dry clothes. To keep the machine durable, normally, you should only load up to 80% of the maximum washing capacity.

In case you put more clothes than this, the machine will be overloaded. If you let this happen frequently, the washing drum will be off-center or the shaft will be broken, causing the machine to vibrate strongly, no longer performing the normal washing function. This is not to mention the clothes easily getting stuck in the machine or not being able to spin dry, the clothes are not clean...

Using too much detergent or the wrong type of detergent

Many people think that adding more detergent will make clothes cleaner. However, this is a misconception.

When you pour more detergent than needed, the excess detergent remains in the machine. The moisture in the machine causes the detergent to mold or form residue in the machine cavity, drum body, and over time affects the washing cycle.

In the opposite case, if you pour too little detergent, the clothes will not be clean. Note that manufacturers always have specific dosages for detergents, detergent tablets, and liquid detergents. For example, 1 cap of detergent can wash a 7-8 kg load of clothes. Therefore, when pouring detergent into the machine, do not pour it directly into the tray but use the bottle cap or cup in the detergent/liquid bag to measure the appropriate amount first. This method not only helps the machine clean, does not stain the detergent, but also helps you measure the appropriate amount.

When choosing a detergent, you should also pay attention to the product packaging to know if the detergent is for front-loading or top-loading machines, whether it has fabric softener or not... Choosing the wrong type, creating too much foam can affect the durability of the washing drum.

Close the washing machine door after use.

Many people have a neat habit, after finishing washing clothes, they must close the washing machine lid. This is wrong, because after a washing cycle, the bottom of the machine may still have a certain amount of water remaining. Closing the door prevents the washing machine from releasing steam and musty odors, over time causing the rubber ring to become moldy, causing loss of aesthetics and hygiene.

Another habit that many people have is that after washing, they do not dry their clothes immediately but also do not open the washing machine door. This causes the clothes to steam, lose their scent, accumulate bacteria, while the washing machine is damp and easily damaged. The best solution is to open the door, take the clothes out of the drum, put them in a basket and dry them whenever you want.

Cleaning the machine incorrectly

Many people put vinegar or combine it with bleach... into the washing machine to clean it, however, experts say that this is an unreasonable solution if used regularly, because the acidity of vinegar can corrode metal. In case of using vinegar, you should mix it with warm water to dilute the solution and then press the washing mode (no load) to clean the machine.

You can use washing machine cleaning tablets to clean the device periodically every month. Each time, you put 2-3 tablets into the washing drum and press the longest washing cycle to let the machine clean itself. After the cycle is finished, you open the washing drum to ventilate and dry the drum.
