Captain Que Ngoc Hai admitted his mistake after missing a penalty kick and poor marking led to India's 1-1 equalizer in a friendly match at Thien Truong Stadium.
In the 12th minute at Thien Truong Stadium on the evening of October 12, when the score was 0-0, Ngoc Hai took the responsibility of taking a penalty kick after Bui Vi Hao was fouled in the Indian penalty area. However, his right-footed shot could not beat goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu.
In the 53rd minute, Ngoc Hai did not mark the ball closely, allowing Farukh Haji to escape and flick the ball over goalkeeper Nguyen Filip's head, equalizing 1-1 for India.

According to Ngoc Hai, the draw against India certainly could not satisfy Vietnamese fans. He also affirmed that the whole team tried very hard and was determined to win after a period of not achieving positive results and high performance, but the final result was not as expected.
Ngoc Hai was born in 1993, joined the first team of Song Lam Nghe An at the age of 19, played in the V-League for 6 years before moving to Viettel. After winning the V-League, in 2022 he returned to his hometown team, staying for another two years. Ngoc Hai currently plays for Binh Duong.
At the national team level, Ngoc Hai has been with the team since he was 21 years old, participating in many important events, including the 2018 AFF Cup championship.
Today's match against India is the first time Ngoc Hai has worn the captain's armband for the national team since June 2023. He also reached the milestone of 79 matches, surpassing his senior Pham Thanh Luong to become the player with the second most appearances in history for the national team (ranked by Le Cong Vinh with 83 matches).
The main goal of Vietnamese football this year is the AFF Cup 2024 taking place in December. The team is in the same group with Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar and Laos. Ngoc Hai hopes that he and his teammates can bring joy to fans in this tournament, after a long time of not achieving the expected results.
