The wife of the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet passed away.

Professor Phan Luong Cam is a famous scientist with important contributions in the field of Electrochemistry - Metal Corrosion.

Her career began in 1965, as a lecturer at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Three years later, she was sent by the State to do research in the Soviet Union.

In early 1973, after successfully defending her doctoral thesis, she returned to Vietnam and continued her teaching and research career at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Here, she founded the Center for Corrosion and Metal Protection Research.

Professor Phan Luong Cam is one of the founders and holds the position of the first President of the Vietnam Association of Corrosion and Metal Protection Science and Technology. This is the first time a science and technology association has a female president.

She held the position of President of the Asia-Pacific Association of Materials and Corrosion from 1999 to 2001.

Professor Phan Luong Cam received the Kovalevskaia Prize in 1995 - a prestigious award given annually to honor female scientists with outstanding achievements in research and application of science into practice, bringing benefits in the economic, social and cultural fields.

In addition, she was also awarded the Labor Medal and many medals and certificates of merit in recognition of her contributions to education, science and technology, as well as to the cause of women's advancement and child protection.
