Pham Thi Hue is the 9th Vietnamese athlete to win a place at the 2024 Olympics.
Right after the news that Nguyen Thi Huong won a spot in the Olympics in canoeing, the Vietnamese sports delegation received more good news when Pham Thi Hue passed the qualifying round to participate in this year's Paris Olympics.
Pham Thi Hue finished in the top 5, qualifying for the Olympics. In the final, Hue competed with athletes from the Philippines, Uzbekistan, Singapore, Japan, and Iran.
Previously, in the semi-final round held on April 20, Pham Thi Hue finished third with a time of 8 minutes 7 seconds 94.
Pham Thi Hue is the ninth Vietnamese athlete to qualify for the Olympics. Previously, the athletes who achieved success were Nguyen Thi That (cycling), Trinh Thu Vinh, Le Thi Mong Tuyen (shooting), Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming), Vo Thi Kim Anh (boxing), Trinh Van Vinh (weightlifting), Nguyen Thuy Linh (badminton) and Nguyen Thi Huong (canoeing).
The Vietnamese sports delegation is one place short of the minimum target of 10 places to attend the 2024 Olympics. The next face expected is badminton player Le Duc Phat. On April 28, the Badminton World Federation will announce the list of athletes who meet the target to attend the Olympics.
