On the evening of July 24, US time (morning of July 25, Vietnam time), at the White House, US President Joe Biden gave an important speech to the people of the country, sharing his decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential election and his expectations for the future of the United States.

In his speech, President Biden mentioned his predecessors Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln as he emphasized his appreciation for the office he will leave in six months, closing a half-century of service to the country.

Explaining his decision to withdraw from the race, Mr. Biden stated: "I have decided that the best way forward is to pass the torch to a new generation. It is also the best way to unite our country."

President Biden also emphasized the role of voters, emphasizing that voters are the ones who run the country and make American history.

In his speech, President Biden expressed his appreciation for his "deputy" Kamala Harris, whom he announced his support when he withdrew from the race for the White House. According to the US leader, Ms. Harris is "experienced, tough, capable."

Mr. Biden also devoted part of his speech to talking about priorities for the last 6 months of his presidency, including pledging to support a stronger and more united North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), work towards a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, and promote reform of the US Supreme Court.

This is the fourth time Mr. Biden has used the Oval Office for a formal speech since taking office in 2021. The last time he gave an important speech in this room was on July 15 when he called for calm after the failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump - the Republican presidential candidate.

Mr. Biden's political career began when he was elected to the Senate in 1972 at the age of 29. He will end his term in the White House on January 20, 2025 at the age of 82, making him the oldest US President.
