The phenomenon of “Party indifference” and lack of enthusiasm for joining the Party has been appearing among a segment of young people. How to nurture love for the Party among young people?
The image of student Nguyen Thi Hong Huong being congratulated by her grandmother, a 65-year Party member, on the day she was admitted to the Party at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted (Hai Duong City) recently in Hai Duong newspaper is a beautiful and extremely meaningful image to me. Beautiful not only because she is an excellent student (won second prize in the national excellent high school student competition last school year), but also because I saw the pride shining on her radiant face and her respected grandmother's face on this special day.
Along with Huong, 19 other students were also admitted to the Party by the Party Committee of Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted on this occasion. This is the batch with the most students admitted to the Party so far by the school's Party Committee.
A few days ago, Nam Sach district was also a typical unit that received information about the number of students admitted to the Party in the first 6 months of this year, an increase of 1.6 times compared to the same period last year. Over the past years, thanks to focusing on creating sources for Party members, the Nam Sach district Party Committee has exceeded the target of admitting new Party members for 3 consecutive years. The number of Party members who are students in this district has also continuously increased.
However, not all localities can do as Nam Sach has. And even more sadly, not all young people today want to join the Party. The phenomenon of "Party indifference" and lack of enthusiasm for joining the Party has been and is appearing among a segment of young people. Many young people are less interested in the country's political issues and consider those issues irrelevant to their lives and their families. Because they are not aware of the Party's leadership role and the value of Party members, a segment of young people do not nurture the noble ideal of being a member of the vanguard in society. Many young people also think that if they do not work in a state agency, it is not necessary to join the Party. Many young people working in foreign enterprises or deciding to study abroad still think that being a Party member even hinders their path.
The cycle of modern life and the explosion of the 4.0 industrial revolution have unintentionally pushed many young people to live in a closed, selfish, pragmatic way, overly materialistic, and indifferent to the community and the country. At the same time, they are surrounded by toxic information and fake news on the internet, gradually changing their perception, even misunderstanding the Party organization, the revolutionary ideals and the heroic traditions of our nation, and participating in anti-Party organizations.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong once emphasized: “A segment of young people has lost faith, lacks awareness of law enforcement, lives pragmatically, lacks ideals; shows signs of drifting away from the nation’s fine cultural traditions, falling into individualism. Although only a small segment, these manifestations need to be addressed to overcome, otherwise they will be the root cause of self-evolution, self-transformation with many consequences for future generations.”
To prevent this extremely dangerous situation of "Party indifference", it is necessary to focus on building trust in the Party right from schools, in the Youth Union and in each family. Bringing vivid Party awareness education into schools. No one understands students' psychology better than teachers and they themselves will know how to convey love for the Party to the younger generation in a way that is appropriate to the characteristics and needs of young people, so as to arouse their own motivations for the Party's ideals. Youth Union organizations need to organize practical and meaningful movements and activities to help young people promote their pioneering, voluntary and creative roles in all areas of socio-economic life, contributing to building and defending the Fatherland. More than anyone else, each young person needs to cultivate and train their own character, be aware of their responsibilities to their family, community and society to shoulder the future of the country.
