In recent days, many people in Tu Ky district (Hai Duong) have continuously complained about the water source on Bac Hung Hai river being pitch black and giving off a foul smell.
According to the representative of the Tu Ky District Irrigation Exploitation Enterprise, the water is black and smells foul on the Bac Hung Hai River flowing from upstream into the district. The reason is that the Xuan Quan field pumping station in Van Giang District (Hung Yen) is currently operating to add water to the system, helping to neutralize the polluted water, creating a flow for the Bac Hung Hai irrigation system to clean itself.
Before the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development put the Xuan Quan field pumping station into operation to clean up the polluted water source in the Bac Hung Hai system, Tu Ky district directed the district's Irrigation Works Exploitation Enterprise to temporarily stop taking water from this system and close all sluices under the Bac Hung Hai canal. At the same time, closely monitor the quality of the water source; warn and instruct people not to use polluted river water for production and daily life.
Currently, the Tu Ky District Irrigation Works Exploitation Enterprise is exploiting water sources from the inland canal system and external rivers when the water source ensures salinity below the allowable level, so the current polluted water situation on the Bac Hung Hai River does not greatly affect the quality of water sources serving agricultural production and aquaculture of farmers in the entire district.
Regarding clean water for daily life, from 2021 to now, all clean water plants in Tu Ky district have switched to using raw water from Thai Binh River and Luoc River according to provincial regulations, not taking source water from Bac Hung Hai River and inland rivers.
Faced with the current situation of water pollution in Bac Hung Hai River, Tu Ky District People's Committee has requested Bac Hung Hai Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited to find a solution to operate the water source cleaning system and promptly remedy the current water pollution situation so that people can feel secure.
