At least two people were killed and 10 others injured when a bomb exploded in a car in the municipality of Taminango in Colombia's southwestern Nariño province.
The car bombing that occurred on the afternoon of June 21 (local time) near the local police station caused outrage among the Colombian public.
Through social network X, Colombian President Gustavo Petro expressed his condolences to the victims of the bombing, including a police officer, and affirmed that those who choose the path of war instead of peace will be punished by law.
Colombian police condemned the attack and confirmed that patrolman Brayan Mojica Santos died in the incident.
This is the second attack on the police station. On August 14, 2023, a bomb planted on a motorbike exploded, but there were no casualties.
Authorities are investigating the case and there is still no information about the suspect or motive.
Also on June 21, six police officers in the northern Colombian province of Bolívar were seriously injured in an explosive device attack. Initial investigations indicate that the devices were detonated remotely.
